Many of our customers have taken the time to drop us a line about their experiences in using the PATRIOT. Here are a few excerpts from some of those letters.
Previously . . . "punch-card"
"We selected the equipment after studying other voting units and after a community testing event. Studying other equipment showed that the technology of the PATRIOT touch screen equipment is reliable."
"Election inspectors enjoy the equipment and learned to operate the system quickly, but the most obvious change over the punch card equipment is at the polls. The results are available immediately after the close of the polls. After the last voter has finished voting, a button is pushed to produce a "results tape." If the Clerk wishes to proceed, the results can be transmitted over the telephone to the central computer for printing and tabulation with the other precincts."
Previously . . . Optical Read (Central Count)
"This past General Election proved to be a huge success with the initial use of our recently purchased UniLect Patriot Electronic Voting System. The Patriot system replaced our archaic optical-read paper ballot system and the transition went much smoother than we anticipated. Needless to say, we were very pleased."
"Thanks to the support we received from UniLect, the public education program was a huge success and helped allay anxiety some people experience when faced with change. Voters at the polls were enthusiastic about the new system."
"This went way beyond my expectations . . . And you know they were high. Can't thank you enough for a great election. Everyone is still raving about the system."
Previously . . . "Full-Face" Electronic DRE
"To say we were "pleased" would be an understatement. In fact, it exceeded our expectations in almost every way."
"Poll Manager training went very well. There were very few "question" calls all day.
Poll Managers loved the system and complemented us on the training classes."
"Voters found the new machines easy to use and went out of their way to say how much they liked it, especially seniors. One 96-year-old lady told us "it was great"."
"We were completely finished tallying all votes (PATRIOT, Absentees and Fail-Safes) just 67 minutes after the polls closed. These results were then sent over the Internet to the State Election Commission about 5 minutes later."
Previously . . . Optical Read (Precinct Count)
"On February 2, 2000, we gave you an order for the UniLect Patriot voting system and asked to have this equipment for use in the May 2, 2000 primary election. We realized that this was going to be a very tight schedule. However, you accomplished this with no problems and all equipment was received in good condition in a timely manner."
"Your training for software and hardware, was conducted in a very professional and proficient manner which made learning easy and enjoyable."
"The equipment worked beautifully and was well received by the precinct workers and the voters."
"We look forward to the November 7, 2000 general election with the assurance that we have an excellent voting system and can rely on your continued support."
Previously . . . Large Lever Machines
"We were impressed with the ease of operation and the "paperless" ballot concept. We particularly like the idea of being able to program our own ballots and print sample ballots directly from the program."
"My elections inspectors thought the equipment was easy to operate. All they have to do now is plug the equipment in and depress a couple of buttons. When the polls close, inspectors again depress one button and the tally tapes are printed out including write-ins. We are able to transmit results to city hall by modem in those precincts that have a single fax or phone line."
Previously . . . Punch Cards
"A lot of our Town citizens commented on how easy the machine was to use. We did not hear any negative complaints from our citizens about the voting equipment, only positive comments."
"In my opinion, the money that Council spent on the electronic voting machines was worth every penny."
"On behalf of the Mayor, Town Administrator, and myself, we highly recommend the touch-screen voting system from UniLect. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have."
Previously . . . Paper Ballots
"Replacing our paper ballot voting system with a touch-screen electronic system was an enormous step for Greene County. We looked closely at the systems available and decided that the Patriot was a quality product and would best suit our needs. We were not disappointed. The General Election proved to be very successful."
"We received many favorable comments from the voters on the ease of the system. The district election boards were most appreciative of the Patriot System; to be home at a reasonable hour was an unusual experience for them."
Previously . . . Large Lever Machines
"We're very pleased with the Patriot System and the transition from AVM's to touch screen went very smoothly for the voters."
"We've never received a complaint regarding not being able to view the entire ballot at once. Practically speaking, the voter can only vote one issue or candidate at a time, so it's really not necessary to view the whole ballot."
